Getting ready

Trying to get my rooms ready for the new year.  One of them is without air conditioning right now, which makes it really hard.   Classes start for me one week from today.  I have two morning classes next Wed., the rest of the day a workday plus Meet-Your-Teacher night at one school, then all day classes on Thursday.  Am I ready??  No, I’m not!!  But, I’ll get there.  I had done some lesson planning earlier in the summer, planning for the first week or two at least, so that feels managable.    I know so much more now than I knew when I started out last year.

I’m working on a list of things I wish I’d known when I started and/or things I learned in my first year as an art teacher.  Until then, here are a few photos of getting my room ready.   We are making big paper mache decorations for my room (the word “ART” and a big paintbrush).  I’ve bribed asked my girls to help out (with a “no bickering” clause) and they’ve been great help.
