Andy Warhol

I just finished up a week of summer art classes.  They were Multi-Cultural Art and Mimicking the Masters.  They were really fun classes!!  I used the Kids’ Multicultural Art Book as a starting point for the first class, but have since found lots of other ideas for next year!  For Mimicking the Masters we focused on one or two famous artists each day and then did a work in their style or using the medium they used.  It was fun too, and my favorite activity was yesterday when we focused on Andy Warhol.  We looked at a series of his Marilyn Monroe pictures, talked about how he had started with a black and white photo of her, and then took off.  I had taken black and white photos of them earlier in the week, and formatted them with four on a page.  I made two copies for them.  This one used crayons, markers and glitter paint.  I love how they turned out!

I love how one of the girls gave herself a beauty mark, like Marilyn’s, in a couple of her pictures!
